December meeting 2023

Our last meeting was our Christmas Social which was kindly hosted by Hemlow who gave a talk on Accelerating Energy Efficiencies in commercial buildings. This was followed by lunch at Bar and Block and then entertainment at Roxy Ballroom sponsored by CSI.

Meetings are generally four per year based on two local, one out of region study tour, and an AGM, with Executive meetings being held throughout the year to discuss logistics and feasibility. Membership for 2023 remains at £125 and lunch is provided. If a meeting is out of the region coach travel is also included. If overnight stays in the UK are scheduled there may be an additional charge to cover accommodation and this also applies to overseas visits. However these will be kept to a minimum. Any paid up member can invite a guest for an additional £35 and if that guest is site based and decides to become a member then this is deducted from their joining fee. You can only attend as a guest on one occasion.

Membership is for site based staff. Where the centre pays the membership fee out of the service charge, the membership remains with the centre if the manager moves on. Where the member pays the membership fee out of their own pocket, if the member moves to another centre within our region, the membership would move with them. If the manager is not able to attend then a site based member of staff may attend in their place. There is no reason why any centre can not have two or more paying member fees so that more than one person can regularly attend.

The region also has four honorary members all of whom have given their time for more than 10 years in an executive role: Brian Walker (retired), Lawrence Allen (retired), Lynne Shawyer (retired) and Natal Chapman.

Any member who retires or moves away from the business but would still like to be involved can take out an associate membership which is 50% of the current fee. Certain criteria apply – please check out the constitution for more details.
